STEP 1 OF 4

Choose an open lane

Face the far safe area. Leave room beside you before starting the crossing.

Remember

An open straight route is fine. Change your line when the Chaser moves to cut it off.

Watch the movement guide

Original teaching animation. Positions, speed and timing are illustrative, not measured game values.

Start with a crossing you can repeat

Start in the lobby: hold A or D and press Space to try a side dash. Keep W held if you want to continue forward as you move sideways. The camera changes your direction, so practise with a steady view before adding a camera flick.

In a crossing, choose an open lane and watch the Chaser moving toward it. Keep going straight while the route is clear. Change direction when their approach threatens that route, with enough room left to react.

The animations show decisions, not exact input timing. Their playback speed is not your character speed, a cooldown or a safe distance.

When should you use your dash?

Watch both the Chaser and the dash indicator. If nobody is threatening your route, you may not need a dash. If a Chaser starts cutting across it, choose the open side before the gap disappears.

There is no universal last-second cue. Connection delay, camera direction and the approach all change what you see. Practise reacting earlier when you keep getting caught before the dash starts. Do not wait for contact just because a guide says to dash late.

When there are several Chasers

Recheck the field on each crossing. More caught players can mean more Chasers, so a lane that worked earlier may now be covered. Look past the closest opponent before moving sideways.

Crossing near other Runners can divide attention, but a group is not protection. Leave yourself space to steer and watch the exits from the group. If another Chaser is waiting on the far side, choose a different opening.

Hero or Chicken: which should you choose?

Hero means attempting the crossing alone. Choose Chicken while you are learning. Consider Hero once you can handle that exposed crossing and there are fewer Chasers to watch. More Chasers make it harder.

Read the current choice panel for its rules and rewards. Do not pick Hero on the assumption that a guide guarantees extra Gems or an easy win.

Getting caught and rescue

Teammate rescue and Rescue Kit are different actions. To help a downed teammate, approach while rescue is available and use the interaction prompt; PC guides describe E. A Rescue Kit is a charged item for reviving yourself when downed, while your own rescue option remains available.

Make the rescue decision before finishing your crossing. In the reviewed gameplay, crossing the finish line limits the opportunity to return and help. Do not assume you can cross, turn back and rescue later; check the prompt before committing.

Look at the Chaser first, then your route out. If the teammate is being guarded or the route closes, keep moving. After a successful rescue, leave the spot and continue the crossing.

Choose an ability for the problem you have

Pick one ability you already own and learn the situation it solves. Do not spend Gems just to follow an animation. These are suggested uses of the reported effects, not a measured ranking.

A short practice routine

  • First round: take an open route and notice which direction your side dash travels.
  • Next round: save the direction change until you see the approach, instead of dashing repeatedly.
  • Then: add one ability you already own and watch whether it creates room to cross.
  • After a catch: name one mistake to change. Keep everything else similar so you can tell what helped.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best way to survive Huss Valley?

Keep a clear crossing route, watch the Chaser and leave room for a side dash. Learn how your camera affects direction before adding an ability. No fixed movement pattern guarantees survival.

Should I keep zigzagging as a Runner?

Not automatically. A clear straight route can be the right choice. Turn when the Chaser threatens that route, then check the new position before turning again.

Why was I caught while using Cloak?

Cloak conceals your character but does not prevent hits. A Chaser can still catch you on the expected route. Using an item also ends the cloak early.

Do I need a Rescue Kit to revive a teammate?

The reported teammate rescue uses an interaction prompt, usually E on PC. Rescue Kit is a separate consumable for your own recovery. Both depend on rescue still being available.

Are these exact routes for every map?

No. The drawings show how to choose space during a chase. Check the boundaries, other Chasers and destination in your own round instead of copying the line exactly.
